Overview

EIF4G1 shRNA is an experimental RNA-based therapeutic candidate designed to silence the expression of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4 gamma 1 (EIF4G1). EIF4G1 serves as a critical scaffold protein for the eIF4F translation initiation complex, which is frequently deregulated in various cancers to facilitate the translation of oncogenic mRNAs. In preclinical research, particularly in models of enzalutamide-resistant prostate cancer, the use of shRNA to knockdown EIF4G1 has been shown to impair tumor cell proliferation, viability, migration, and invasion, as well as inhibit prostasphere formation. This approach aims to overcome therapeutic resistance by targeting the fundamental translation machinery required for cancer progression.
