Overview
Eimeriavax 4m is a live attenuated, precocious vaccine designed for poultry, specifically chickens (breeders, layers, and broilers). It contains four attenuated strains of Eimeria species: Eimeria acervulina, Eimeria maxima, Eimeria necatrix, and Eimeria tenella. The vaccine aids in the control and prevention of coccidiosis, a parasitic disease caused by these Eimeria species, by stimulating the bird's immune system and reducing the reliance on chemical treatments. The mechanism involves the replication of the live attenuated vaccine strains after administration, which sensitizes the immune system. Subsequent ingestion and replication of secondary sporulated oocysts further stimulate a robust immune response, leading to long-lasting protection against coccidiosis. The vaccine was first registered in 2003.
