Overview

EK-005 is a preclinical-stage chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy being developed by Shanghai Enkai Cell Technology (also known as Shanghai NK Cell Technology). It specifically targets Claudin 18.2 (CLDN18.2), a tight junction protein that is frequently overexpressed in various solid tumors, particularly gastric and gastroesophageal junction cancers, while maintaining restricted expression in normal tissues. By engineering T cells to express a CAR specific to CLDN18.2, EK-005 is designed to selectively identify and eliminate malignant cells. The therapy is currently being investigated for the treatment of gastric cancer.
