Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ektal M is an ophthalmic solution developed by Visum Pharm, primarily indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with allergic conjunctivitis and dry eye syndrome. The formulation is a combination of ectoine, a natural cell-protective molecule (extremolyte), and sodium hyaluronate. Ectoine works by stabilizing cell membranes and forming a protective hydration shell (the Ectoine Hydro Complex) on the ocular surface, which shields the mucosa from allergens and environmental irritants. Sodium hyaluronate, a high-molecular-weight polysaccharide, provides intensive lubrication and moisture, helping to restore the stability of the tear film. Together, these ingredients alleviate itching, redness, and irritation while protecting the eye from further inflammatory triggers.
