EL-32

EL-32 is a **preclinical engineered probiotic drug** designed to act as a dual-action blocker targeting **myostatin** and **activin-A**, two validated pathways involved in the regulation of muscle mass and composition. It is being developed for the **treatment of obesity**, particularly with the goal of preserving muscle mass while reducing fat mass—a significant concern for patients on GLP-1 receptor agonists such as semaglutide (Ozempic) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro), where muscle loss is a known adverse effect. In preclinical studies (aged C57BL/6J mouse model), EL-32 was shown to improve grip strength, enhance motor performance, and optimize body composition (reduced fat mass, preserved muscle) over a 15-week period. The drug is advancing toward IND-enabling animal studies.
