Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EL777 is an inhaled polyene nanoparticle antifungal formulation designed for the prophylaxis of pulmonary and invasive fungal infections in immunocompromised patients, such as cancer and transplant patients receiving immunosuppressive therapies. Administered directly to the lungs via a purpose-built dry powder inhaler, EL777 consists of aerodynamically engineered polyene nanoparticles that distribute throughout the lung epithelium. This localized delivery maintains sustained therapeutic polyene levels in the lungs to destroy inhaled fungal spores before they can germinate and invade the body, while keeping systemic exposure and associated polyene toxicities to a minimum. EL777 is developed by Elion Therapeutics and is Phase 2-ready.
