Overview

Elacycline is a synthetic tetracycline-class antibiotic. It is structurally related to eravacycline and other fluorocyclines, designed to overcome bacterial resistance mechanisms common in traditional tetracyclines. Elacycline acts by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, inhibiting protein synthesis and thereby killing or stopping the growth of susceptible bacteria. It is being developed for the treatment of complicated intra-abdominal infections and other serious bacterial infections caused by multidrug-resistant pathogens.
