Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ELADUR (TRANSDUR-Bupivacaine) is an investigational transdermal patch developed by Durect Corporation for the treatment of chronic low back pain. Utilizing Durect's proprietary TRANSDUR technology, the patch is designed to provide sustained delivery of bupivacaine, a local anesthetic, for up to three days from a single application. Bupivacaine works by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels in nerve cells, thereby inhibiting the transmission of pain signals. Although evaluated in Phase II clinical trials in collaboration with King Pharmaceuticals (now Pfizer), the drug failed to meet its primary efficacy endpoint for chronic low back pain.
