Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ELAPR002b is a tropoelastin-based intradermal implant formulation developed by Elastagen (subsequently acquired by Allergan, now part of AbbVie). It belongs to the ELAPR002 family of products, which are cross-linked tropoelastin matrix formulations designed for mid-to-deep dermal implantation. The active ingredient is recombinant human tropoelastin, the soluble precursor to elastin, which provides skin with elasticity and is gradually lost during aging. ELAPR002b has been evaluated in a completed randomized, split-face Phase 1/2 clinical trial in healthy adult volunteers with moderate to severe nasolabial fold rhytides, where it was compared to the active control Juvederm Ultra Plus. The implant is designed to integrate into the dermal extracellular matrix, restoring elastin structure and function to improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
