elaridipine

Elaridipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB) developed by Beijing Shuanghe Pharmaceutical (now China Resources Double-Crane Pharmaceutical) for the treatment of hypertension. As an L-type calcium channel antagonist, it inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle cells, leading to peripheral vasodilation and a reduction in systemic blood pressure. The drug has been evaluated in Phase II clinical trials in China, specifically for patients with mild-to-moderate primary hypertension, where its efficacy and safety were compared to established CCBs such as felodipine.
