Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**mRNA-1273.214** is Moderna's bivalent COVID-19 mRNA vaccine, marketed as **Spikevax bivalent Original/Omicron BA.1**. It contains two distinct lipid nanoparticle-formulated messenger RNA active ingredients: elasomeran, encoding the SARS-CoV-2 ancestral Wuhan-Hu-1 spike protein, and imelasomeran, encoding the Omicron BA.1 spike protein. Following intramuscular administration, host cells translate the mRNAs and transiently express spike antigens, eliciting neutralizing antibody and cellular immune responses intended to prevent COVID-19. The product was developed as a booster and was evaluated in Phase 2/3 studies; it received authorizations in multiple jurisdictions.
