Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ELB011 is a first-in-class monoclonal antibody targeting the CD160 receptor, developed for the treatment of retinal vascular diseases such as neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. By inhibiting CD160 on endothelial and immune cells, ELB011 exerts dual anti-angiogenic and anti-inflammatory effects, blocking pathological neovascularization in the retina and modulating inflammatory pathways that contribute to disease progression.[3][5][7][11][14] Initially created by ElsaLys Biotech and now part of the Mediolanum Farmaceutici pipeline following acquisition, ELB011 is being positioned as a novel therapeutic option that could be used as monotherapy or in combination with anti-VEGF agents to address patients who respond poorly or become refractory to current standard-of-care treatments.[5][7][11][14]
