Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Elbanovir is a brand name for a formulation of sofosbuvir, an antiviral medication used to treat chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Sofosbuvir is a nucleotide analog inhibitor of the HCV NS5B RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, which is essential for viral replication. By inhibiting this enzyme, sofosbuvir prevents the replication of HCV within host cells. Elbanovir 400 mg film-coated tablets have been studied in bioequivalence trials against Sovaldi (the original brand of sofosbuvir by Gilead Sciences). The product appears to be developed and manufactured by Multi-Apex Pharma in Egypt[5][2].
