ELC-401 is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Elicera Therapeutics. It is designed to target the tumor antigen interleukin 13 receptor subunit alpha 2 (IL13Ra2), a receptor protein that is overrepresented in glioblastoma (GBM), an aggressive form of brain cancer. ELC-401 utilizes Elicera’s proprietary iTANK platform, which enhances CAR T-cells with bystander immune activating properties, aiming to overcome the highly immunosuppressive microenvironment and heterogeneity characteristic of GBM. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that ELC-401 CAR T-cells exhibit potent cell-killing efficacy against IL13Ra2-expressing tumor cells and can prolong survival in disease models. The therapy remains in preclinical development, with plans for future clinical trials[1][3][5][6][8].
