Eldervit-12 is a multivitamin combination product containing folic acid, methylcobalamin (Vitamin B12), niacinamide (Vitamin B3), and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of nutritional deficiencies, megaloblastic anemia, and peripheral neuropathy. The components function as essential cofactors in various metabolic pathways: folic acid and methylcobalamin are critical for DNA synthesis and red blood cell production, specifically involving enzymes like 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase and methionine synthase. Niacinamide acts as a precursor to the coenzymes nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP), which are vital for cellular respiration and energy metabolism.
