Overview
Elebsiran is an investigational small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic designed to target hepatitis B virus (HBV) by degrading HBV RNA transcripts and limiting the production of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). It is administered subcutaneously and is being developed for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B and chronic hepatitis delta. Elebsiran has demonstrated potential direct antiviral activity against both HBV and hepatitis delta virus (HDV). It incorporates Enhanced Stabilization Chemistry Plus (ESC+) technology to improve stability and minimize off-target effects. The drug is currently in phase III clinical trials for chronic hepatitis delta and phase II trials for chronic hepatitis B[1][2][3][4][5][6][7].
