This is a combination of two distinct interventions: - **Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)** is a psychiatric procedure in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain under general anesthesia to induce a brief seizure. ECT rapidly improves symptoms of severe mental health conditions such as major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and catatonia when other treatments have failed. Its mechanism involves altering brain chemistry and promoting neuroplasticity[2][3][4]. - **α-Ethyltryptamine (AET or αET)** is a synthetic entactogen and stimulant from the tryptamine family. Originally developed as an antidepressant under the brand name Monase by Upjohn in the 1960s, it was withdrawn due to toxicity concerns. AET acts primarily as a serotonin-norepinephrine-dopamine releasing agent and weak serotonin receptor agonist; it also has weak monoamine oxidase inhibitory properties[1][5]. It has been studied for depression and schizophrenia but is now controlled due to abuse potential.
