Electromicyn

Electromicyn is a topical **Class IIb medical device** developed and manufactured by Te Arai BioFarma for wound care and skin disinfection. It consists of a stabilized, pH-neutral, hypotonic solution of reactive oxidizing species, including hypochlorous acid, peroxide, ozone, and superoxide, and is available in solution and hydrogel forms. Rather than acting through a discrete molecular target or conventional active pharmaceutical ingredient, it exerts broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity through physicochemical oxidative disruption of microbial outer membranes followed by osmotic rupture, with reported activity against bacteria, viruses, fungi, molds, spores, and biofilms. It is used as an antiseptic to disinfect, sterilize, irrigate, debride, and remove wound-associated biofilms.
