Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Elegliptin tartrate (LY05006) is an orally active, potent, and selective dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor developed by Shandong Luye Pharmaceutical for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. By inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, it prevents the degradation of incretin hormones, such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). This results in increased insulin secretion and decreased glucagon levels in a glucose-dependent manner, thereby improving glycemic control. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials in China, demonstrating a favorable safety profile and significant efficacy in lowering HbA1c levels.
