Overview

Eleuthero (*Eleutherococcus senticosus*), formerly known as Siberian ginseng, is a botanical adaptogen native to East Asia. It is distinct from true ginseng (*Panax* species) as it contains eleutherosides (such as eleutheroside B and E) rather than ginsenosides. Eleuthero is primarily utilized to enhance physical and mental stamina, mitigate the effects of environmental stress, and bolster immune function. Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, which helps regulate the body's stress response and prevents adrenal exhaustion. Additionally, it has been shown to stimulate the proliferation of T-lymphocytes and enhance the activity of natural killer (NK) cells, contributing to its immunostimulatory properties. It is widely available as a dietary supplement in various forms, including capsules, tinctures, and teas.
