Overview

Elfenor is a topical gel formulation of diclofenac sodium (5%), a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) developed and manufactured by the Turkish pharmaceutical company Vefa İlaç. It is indicated for the local treatment of acute pain and inflammation resulting from sports injuries, back pain, and joint conditions such as arthrosis and rheumatism. The drug works by inhibiting the enzymes cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), which are responsible for the production of prostaglandins that mediate pain and inflammatory responses. Elfenor is applied externally to the skin and is available in 50-gram tubes.
