Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ELI-154 is a once-daily, controlled-release oral formulation of oxycodone being developed by Elite Pharmaceuticals as a branded product using the company’s proprietary controlled-release technology. Designed to deliver oxycodone over an extended period, it aims to improve pain management and convenience relative to multiple daily dosing of immediate-release oxycodone by maintaining more consistent plasma levels of the opioid. As an oxycodone product, its pharmacology is expected to involve activation of μ-opioid receptors in the central nervous system to produce analgesia, with the typical opioid class risks of respiratory depression, abuse, and dependence. Elite positions ELI-154 within its strategy of developing oral controlled-release formulations and life-cycle management products for off-patent drugs, particularly in the controlled-substance space.[2][8]
