Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Elmex Gelée is a topical dental gel formulated for intensive caries prevention and the treatment of hypersensitive teeth. Its primary active ingredients are amine fluorides (Olaflur and Dectaflur) and sodium fluoride, providing a high concentration of fluoride (1.25%) to strengthen tooth enamel through remineralization. The mechanism involves the formation of a protective fluoride depot on the enamel surface that increases resistance to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and supports the reversal of early-stage caries by replenishing lost minerals in enamel. It is indicated for weekly use in children over 6 years old, adolescents, adults—especially those at increased risk for caries such as orthodontic patients—and can be used both at home or applied professionally by dentists[2][3][5][6][7][10].
