Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ELN-33 is an antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) designed as a Locked Nucleic Acid (LNA) mixmer that targets and inhibits microRNA-33a (miR-33a). Developed by Elenae Therapeutics, the drug is intended for the treatment of dry age-related macular degeneration (dry AMD). By antagonizing miR-33a, ELN-33 aims to promote cholesterol efflux and lipid homeostasis within the retinal pigment epithelium, potentially reducing the formation of drusen and slowing disease progression. The program is currently in preclinical development, with data supported by non-human primate (NHP) studies.
