ELND007 is a small molecule gamma-secretase (γ-secretase) inhibitor developed by Elan Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It was specifically engineered to selectively inhibit the production of amyloid-beta (Aβ) peptides while minimizing the inhibition of Notch signaling, a pathway associated with adverse effects in earlier γ-secretase inhibitors. The compound reached Phase 1 clinical testing, where it was evaluated in a first-in-human, single-ascending-dose, placebo-controlled study in healthy elderly volunteers to determine its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile. Development appears to have ceased following early-stage trials.
