Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Elo-Mel Isoton is an isotonic, acetate-buffered balanced crystalloid solution used for intravenous fluid resuscitation and perioperative fluid management. It is designed to mimic the electrolyte composition of human plasma more closely than 0.9% normal saline, thereby reducing the risk of hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis. The solution typically contains sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, chloride, and acetate as a bicarbonate precursor. It is primarily used to maintain or restore fluid and electrolyte balance in patients undergoing surgery or in intensive care settings.
