Overview

PB432 is an investigational drug designation for GeloMyrtol® forte, a phytotherapeutic product developed by G. Pohl-Boskamp. Its active ingredient is ELOM-080, a standardized distillate of four rectified essential oils: eucalyptus, sweet orange, lemon, and myrtle. PB432 is designed to enhance mucociliary clearance (MCC) by increasing ciliary beat frequency and restoring the airway's self-cleaning capacity, which can be impaired by viral infections such as SARS-CoV-2. While GeloMyrtol forte is widely used for the treatment of acute and chronic bronchitis and sinusitis, PB432 was specifically evaluated in the COVARI and COVARI-2 clinical trials as an add-on therapy for COVID-19 patients with acute respiratory insufficiency. The Phase II COVARI trial was terminated early due to recruitment challenges.
