ELP-004 is a small-molecule osteoclast inhibitor under preclinical development to prevent or reduce bone erosion associated with diseases such as arthritis and multiple myeloma. Preclinical studies report rapid absorption and distribution after intravenous, oral, or subcutaneous dosing in mice; it was non-mutagenic, did not induce chromosome aberrations, showed no cardiotoxicity, and had minimal off-target effects. In vitro hepatic studies indicate primary metabolism by CYP1A2 and CYP2B6. The compound inhibits osteoclast differentiation without broadly suppressing T-cell function. It is being advanced by ExesaLibero Pharma with plans to leverage microgravity-grown seed crystals via Redwire’s SpaceMD to support an IND and subsequent clinical trials.
