Overview

ELP-p50i is a biopolymer-fused peptide designed to inhibit the activity of Nuclear Factor-kappa B (NF-κB). It consists of an elastin-like polypeptide (ELP) fused to a peptide inhibitor derived from the p50 subunit of NF-κB. Developed by researchers at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, the drug is intended to target renal inflammation. In preclinical swine models of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), intra-renal administration of ELP-p50i has been shown to improve renal hemodynamics and cardiac function by blocking the pro-inflammatory NF-κB signaling pathway. The ELP component acts as a carrier to enhance the stability and delivery of the inhibitory peptide.
