Overview

Elranatamab is a bispecific monoclonal antibody used for the treatment of adults with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma who have received at least four prior lines of therapy, including a proteasome inhibitor, an immunomodulatory agent, and an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody. It functions as a B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA)-directed CD3 T-cell engager. By binding to BCMA on malignant plasma cells and CD3 on T-cells, it brings these cells into close proximity, activating T-cells to induce cytolysis of the cancerous plasma cells. This mechanism results in proinflammatory cytokine release and lysis of multiple myeloma cells. Elranatamab is administered by subcutaneous injection and was approved for use in the United States in August 2023[5][6][7][8].
