elsufavirine

Elsufavirine is a long-acting **non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor** (NNRTI) developed primarily for the treatment of **HIV-1 infection**. It is a small molecule antiretroviral agent that inhibits HIV-1 reverse transcriptase by binding to an allosteric site, thereby preventing viral RNA from being reverse transcribed into DNA, which is essential for viral replication. It is characterized by a prolonged half-life, which enables once-daily oral administration and is also under investigation for extended-release injectable formulations.
