Overview

This is a fixed-dose combination of three antiretroviral drugs: **elsulfavirine**, **emtricitabine**, and **tenofovir**, developed for the treatment of **HIV-1 infection**. Elsulfavirine is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) that inhibits HIV-1 replication by binding to and inhibiting the reverse transcriptase enzyme. Emtricitabine and tenofovir are nucleoside/nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs), each interfering with the viral reverse transcriptase process by acting as faulty substrates, thus causing premature chain termination during viral DNA synthesis. The combination is designed to provide a potent, once-daily, oral treatment regimen for managing HIV-1 infection by targeting the reverse transcriptase enzyme at multiple points.
