EluNIR-PERL is a seventh-generation drug-eluting coronary stent (DES) system developed by Medinol for the treatment of coronary artery disease. The device consists of a cobalt-chromium (CoCr) framework with an elastomeric coating that facilitates the controlled, sustained release of ridaforolimus (a rapamycin analogue) to the vessel wall to inhibit neointimal hyperplasia and prevent restenosis. EluNIR-PERL is distinguished by its enhanced visualization features, including four radiopaque markers (two at each end of the stent) and a unique hybrid polymer-metal radiopaque catheter tip designed for precise placement during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The system received FDA approval in October 2023 and CE Mark approval in June 2024.
