Elutax

Elutax is a drug-eluting balloon (DEB) catheter system developed by Aachen Resonance GmbH for the treatment of atherosclerotic lesions in coronary and peripheral arteries. The device consists of a PTCA catheter with a balloon coated with paclitaxel at a concentration of 2.0 μg/mm². Paclitaxel acts as an antiproliferative agent by binding to and stabilizing microtubules, thereby inhibiting smooth muscle cell proliferation and preventing restenosis. Elutax is available in several versions, including the Elutax 2nd Generation for standard vessels and the Elutax SV for small coronary vessels. It has been evaluated in clinical trials, such as those sponsored by Sint Antonius Ziekenhuis, for the treatment of coronary bifurcation lesions in combination with bare-metal stents.
