EM-113 is an investigational small-molecule N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist being developed by EuMentis Therapeutics to treat autism spectrum disorder (ASD), particularly in patients with evidence of elevated brain glutamate levels. It is described as an uncompetitive, fast-off NMDA receptor antagonist, a kinetic profile intended to attenuate pathological glutamatergic overactivation while minimizing cognitive and psychotomimetic side effects associated with longer-binding NMDA blockers.[1][9][11][13] EM-113 is based on an active ingredient that has previously demonstrated safety and efficacy in a placebo-controlled trial in pediatric ASD patients selected by a proprietary imaging biomarker, and EuMentis is advancing it into Phase 2 clinical development as a potential first therapy to address core ASD symptoms.[3][11][13]
