Overview

EMAP-II neutralizing antibody is a therapeutic candidate designed to block the activity of Endothelial Monocyte-Activating Polypeptide II (EMAP-II). EMAP-II is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that is upregulated in response to the HIV-Nef protein, leading to endothelial cell apoptosis and senescence. By neutralizing extracellular EMAP-II, this antibody aims to prevent the development of plexiform lesions and the progression of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in people living with HIV. Research indicates that EMAP-II levels correlate with Nef-positivity in HIV patients, and its neutralization has shown efficacy in reducing pulmonary endothelial damage in transgenic mouse models.
