Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EmboCube is an absorbable gelatin sponge embolic agent designed for the embolization of blood vessels to control hemorrhaging and arterial bleeding. Developed by Merit Medical Systems, it consists of pre-cut gelatin cubes that are delivered through a microcatheter to the target site. Once deployed, the cubes provide a mechanical scaffold that promotes thrombus formation and occludes the vessel, leading to rapid hemostasis. As an absorbable material, the gelatin is eventually resorbed by the body over time. It is used in various clinical scenarios, including acute and sub-acute bleeding, either as a standalone treatment or in combination with other embolic materials such as coils.
