Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EmbryoGen is a specialized embryo culture medium used in assisted reproductive technology (ART), specifically in vitro fertilization (IVF). It is supplemented with recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) at a concentration of 2 ng/ml. GM-CSF is a cytokine naturally found in the female reproductive tract that plays a crucial role in embryo-maternal communication, promoting embryo development and protecting against culture-induced stress. EmbryoGen is primarily indicated for women with a history of recurrent implantation failure, recurrent miscarriage, or unexplained infertility to improve implantation and clinical pregnancy rates. The product was developed by Origio (now part of CooperSurgical) and has received regulatory clearance in several regions, including the United States (FDA), Europe (CE mark), and Canada.
