Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EmbryoGlue is a specialized embryo transfer medium developed by Vitrolife, designed to enhance the success rates of implantation during in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) procedures. It is uniquely formulated with a high concentration of hyaluronan (0.5 mg/ml) and recombinant human albumin, mimicking the physiological environment of the uterus during the implantation window. The mechanism of action is twofold: physically, the high concentration of hyaluronan increases the viscosity of the transfer medium to match that of the uterine fluid, which helps prevent the embryo from drifting or being expelled; biologically, hyaluronan acts as a ligand for CD44 receptors present on both the embryo and the endometrial lining. This interaction facilitates the initial adhesion and subsequent implantation process by promoting cell-to-cell signaling and attachment. EmbryoGlue is indicated for use in all stages of embryo transfer, including day 3 and day 5 (blastocyst) transfers.
