EMD 640744 + Montanide ISA 51 VG is a combination therapy consisting of EMD 640744, a peptide-based vaccine composed of survivin-derived HLA class I-binding multi-epitope peptides, and Montanide ISA 51 VG, a water-in-oil emulsion adjuvant. This combination is developed for therapeutic cancer vaccination, particularly to enhance immunogenic responses against tumor antigens in cancer patients. EMD 640744 aims to stimulate cytotoxic T lymphocyte responses by targeting survivin, an anti-apoptotic protein overexpressed in various cancers. Montanide ISA 51 VG acts as an immune adjuvant, creating an antigen depot effect, enhancing CD4+ and CD8+ T cell responses, and amplifying antibody responses. The formulation is administered by subcutaneous injection, with Montanide serving to improve both the magnitude and duration of immune responses by promoting slow antigen release and recruitment of antigen-presenting cells.
