Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EMD-RX5 is a proprietary, ultra-pure, and highly bioavailable oral capsule formulation of cannabidiol (CBD) developed by Emyria. As a small molecule cannabinoid, it interacts with the endocannabinoid system and various non-cannabinoid receptors to exert anxiolytic and analgesic effects. Specifically, it is being developed to treat psychological distress, including symptoms of mild anxiety and stress, particularly in adults suffering from chronic pain. EMD-RX5 is designed to meet the requirements for registration as a Schedule 3 over-the-counter (OTC) medicine with the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) in Australia. Clinical data from Phase 1 studies demonstrated safety, tolerability, and a pharmacokinetic profile comparable to the FDA-approved CBD medicine Epidyolex. The candidate is currently being evaluated in a pivotal multi-site Phase 3 clinical trial (EMD-003) in Australia.
