Overview
Emelista tora ethyl acetate extract is a botanical extract derived from the plant *Emelista tora* (also known as *Cassia tora* or *Senna tora*). In preclinical research, this extract has been investigated for its potential anti-Parkinsonian (anti-paralysis) effects using mouse models of tremor induced by cholinergic agonists. The extract contains various bioactive compounds, including anthraquinones such as emodin, rhein, and chrysophanol, which possess significant antioxidant properties. These antioxidants are hypothesized to mitigate oxidative stress and provide neuroprotective effects against the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra. While the methanolic extract of the plant showed more robust efficacy in reducing tremors, salivation, and hypothermia in experimental models, the ethyl acetate extract demonstrated mild activity in reducing tremor scores.
