Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Emenean is an orally disintegrating film (ODF) formulation of ondansetron, a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. Developed by DRS Biopharma, it is indicated for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) and post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV). The ODF technology allows the medication to dissolve rapidly on the tongue without the need for water, providing a convenient administration route for patients suffering from emesis or dysphagia. By blocking serotonin at 5-HT3 receptors on vagal nerve terminals and in the chemoreceptor trigger zone of the central nervous system, it effectively suppresses the vomiting reflex.
