Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Emideltide, commonly known as delta sleep-inducing peptide (DSIP), is a synthetic nonapeptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) originally isolated from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits. It has been studied for its potential to induce slow-wave (delta) sleep and regulate circadian rhythms, as well as for treating opioid withdrawal, chronic insomnia, and narcolepsy. However, human clinical data remains limited and inconsistent, and its exact biological target and mechanism of action are not fully established. In July 2026, the FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee (PCAC) voted against recommending emideltide and emideltide acetate for inclusion on the Section 503A Bulks List due to insufficient safety and efficacy data.
