Emluz

Emluz is a topical antifungal cream containing 1% luliconazole, developed and marketed by Emcutix Biopharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Emcure Pharmaceuticals. It is indicated for the treatment of various fungal skin infections, including tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea corporis (ringworm), and tinea cruris (jock itch). Luliconazole, an imidazole antifungal, works by inhibiting the enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase, which is essential for the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes. This disruption leads to increased membrane permeability and fungal cell death. Emluz is available as a topical cream in 20g and 40g tubes and is approved for use in India.
