Overview

EMP405 is a preclinical-stage somatostatin receptor (SSTR)-targeted radioligand therapy being developed by Empiriko for the treatment of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs). The drug utilizes Empiriko's proprietary RCV (azamacrocycle carrier) platform to deliver the lutetium-177 (177Lu) radioisotope to tumor cells expressing SSTR. Its unique mechanism of action involves the RCV carrier functioning as a co-drug that amplifies therapeutic efficacy by generating oxidative damage via singlet oxygen radicals, complementing the beta radiation emitted by the 177Lu isotope. This dual-action approach is designed to enhance the anti-tumor effect compared to traditional radioligand therapies.
