EMP408 is a preclinical-stage radioligand therapy (RLT) developed by Empiriko for the treatment of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs). The drug candidate utilizes Empiriko's proprietary Reduced Clearance Vehicle (RCV™) platform to deliver the therapeutic radioisotope Lutetium-177 (177Lu) to tumor cells expressing somatostatin receptors (SSTR). By targeting SSTR, which is frequently overexpressed in GEP-NETs, EMP408 aims to provide targeted cytotoxicity via beta-particle emission while minimizing damage to healthy tissues. It is designed as the therapeutic component of a theranostic pair, intended to be used alongside the diagnostic radiotracer EMP402-Dx (68Ga-labeled) for patient selection and treatment monitoring. The RCV platform is engineered to optimize the pharmacokinetic profile of the radiopharmaceutical, potentially enhancing tumor uptake and reducing off-target clearance.
