Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ALC-2212 is an incrementally modified drug (IMD) being developed by Korea Arlico Pharm. It is a fixed-dose combination of **empagliflozin**, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, and **linagliptin**, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. The drug is intended for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, aiming to provide synergistic glycemic control by targeting two distinct pathways of glucose regulation: increasing urinary glucose excretion and enhancing the incretin effect. As an IMD in the South Korean regulatory framework, it represents a new combination of previously approved active ingredients. It is currently in clinical development, with Phase 1 trials initiated to evaluate its pharmacokinetic profile and safety compared to the individual components.
