Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Empagliflozin + linagliptin + metformin** is a fixed-dose, once-daily oral triple therapy marketed in the United States as **Trijardy XR**. It combines empagliflozin, a selective sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor that increases urinary glucose excretion; linagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor that enhances endogenous incretin activity; and extended-release metformin, a biguanide that lowers hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity. It is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus; the empagliflozin component is also indicated to reduce cardiovascular death risk in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus and established cardiovascular disease. The product is an extended-release tablet containing an extended-release metformin core with immediate-release empagliflozin and linagliptin.
