A combination therapy consisting of empagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransport-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, and MET409, a farnesoid X receptor (FXR) agonist. This combination was investigated in a Phase 2a clinical trial for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). In clinical trials, the combination showed enhanced liver fat reduction compared to either agent alone.
